The Business Problem
The 23-storey apartment block on Leman Street needed individuality and aimed to make Locke a design-led building for those who wanted to challenge the status quo, and experience the uniqueness. It was thought that the only way to achieve their high end ideas was to proceed with a traditional onsite labour.
However, Leman Street requested a high end Bathroom Pod design to complement their high end approach. Walker Modular’s hot welded steel bathroom pod solution fitted in perfectly with this development with their bespoke designs and luxurious finished.
Central to the contract was that Walker Modular would produce a bespoke welded steel framed bathroom pod in which they sourced materials from around the world with their finest sanitary ware and bespoke furniture.
How We Helped
A team of 4 specialists was assigned to the project, with skills in different areas including product design, technical development, project and service management.
Our first task was to create a hot welded steel bathroom pod that could be manufactured in mass volume to facilitate the rapid speed of build envisaged by the contractor.
Once the structure had been approved the task of manufacturing the Bathroom Pods were tasked to the manufacturing facilities.
The frames were manufactured and Walker Modular began supplying bathroom pods in 2015 at a rate of 30 per week.
