Project Description

The 2465sqm development is being built next to the School’s sixth form Collingwood Centre on Barby Road and will be the School’s first newly created boarding house since the 1930’s. Three storeys high, it will provide 60 en-suite pupil rooms, accommodation for the housemaster, assistant housemaster and matron, a main dining room on the ground floor as well as communal spaces. Scheduled for completion in early 2019, the project marks the first phase of the School’s major refurbishment programme to invest in the improvement of all its existing boarding house buildings. Designed by GSS Architecture, special architectural features are the secluded rooftop terrace and a double-height atrium to provide flexible spaces for socialising and study. Walker Modular will provide all Bathroom Pods for this impressive boarding house which will offer one of the first, fully single room en-suite facilities for all ages equipping pupils with the best private study facilities while promoting their independence ahead of university life.
